A Christmas Carol Worth Experiencing

A Christmas Carol, now playing at the Sierra Madre Playhouse (November 26 to December 23), might be among the best holiday events in the Southland.  Led by a very capable group of players, beginning and ending with Stuart James Galbraith as the venerable Scrooge, who strikes just the right note, this abridged version of the Charles Dickens classic warms the heart every way.

Kudos to director Christina Harris who does superb job of using Liz Peterson’s elegant costumes (I particularly enjoyed the costumes and acting of all three Ghosts of Christmas), integrating song and dance and lighting to add atmosphere, and managing to fit this huge cast (more than 30 performers) into rather confined space.  This is no easy accomplishment.  But what makes this whole production special is the cast who work so well together.  Charles Dickens would be rather proud.
